Best seasons
The square is an open public space and is accessible all year, but the weather decides how pleasant a walk there will be.
The most favourable windows are May–June and September–October, with moderate temperatures and fewer crowds.
- May–June: mild warmth and long days
- September–October: clear skies and comfortable temperatures
- July–August: hot; go early morning or after sunset
- December–February: cool, with occasional snow
Best hours of the day
Early morning is the quietest time — fewer people and softer light for photos.
In the evening the monument is floodlit, which gives the square a different character and a livelier atmosphere.
What to keep in mind
The square is a major traffic hub, so daytime movement around it is heavy. Crossings are made through underground passages rather than at street level.
During large public events such as parades or rallies, parts of the area may be temporarily closed.
