The route from the square
The streets of Old Tbilisi begin just below the square. The way runs downhill, so heading down from the square is easy.
It is here, just below the square, that the historic districts begin — Sololaki and Abanotubani among them.
What you pass on the way
On the way you pass narrow streets, cafés and historic buildings. This is everyday Old Tbilisi rather than a single sight.
- Sololaki — a historic district southwest of the square
- Abanotubani — the sulfur-bath district
- Bridge of Peace — over the Mtkvari river
Practical tips
Wear comfortable shoes — the streets are cobbled and in places steep.
If you want to head back up, the Liberty Square metro station is close by.
