Which line the station is on

Liberty Square is a station on Line 1 (Akhmeteli–Varketili), at the southern end of Rustaveli Avenue.

It opened in 1967 and was renovated in 2006 — today it is modern and well lit.

How to pay

Rides are paid with a single ticket or a rechargeable Metromoney card, which you can top up at machines in the station.

The same card works on the metro, buses and other city transport, so one card covers a full day.

Getting up to the square

The exit opens straight onto the square — as you come up you will see the granite column and the City Hall building.

If you are heading into Old Tbilisi, the lower streets are an easy walk downhill from the station.
