By metro
The metro is the fastest and most predictable option: the station opens directly onto the square and is unaffected by traffic.
Pay with a Metromoney card — the same card works across the city transport network.
By bus or taxi
Buses reach the square from Rustaveli Avenue and the surrounding streets. The common taxi apps are Bolt, Yandex Go and Maxim.
At peak hours a taxi can sit in traffic, so the metro is often quicker.
On foot from the centre
Walking down Rustaveli Avenue is pleasant — you pass theatres, museums and cafés on the way.
Coming up from Old Tbilisi is a short but uphill walk.
